IRENE & MILENA SCHELLER

Somewhere in Sri Lanka there is a pool ruled into perfect turquoise squares, still enough to hold the palm trees upside down, and a few steps below it a coast of raw boulders that has never once done as it was told. Milena Scheller spends her half of Volume 189 moving between the two for ArtofLiving, precise in the water where the tile keeps count, loose on the rock in white and yellow with the surf going off behind her.

Half a sea away, Jessee B walks Irene Nanni into the deep green of Bali and finds the issue's strangest set piece, a full mandala carved into stone and left for the jungle to reclaim, moss and fern creeping back over the old lines. Against foliage gone almost black she stands blonde and warm lit, a thin gold chain at the hips and then nothing at all, an Unfiltered story as composed as the carving behind her. One volume, hand cut geometry and wilderness twice over, in two climates that could not sit further apart. All 120 plus pages are ready when you are.
